Just looking through the results thought I should mention that we entered the Harter Fell Class of the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon 2010. 
 
At the end of day one, due to the long grass we did not get much chance to run, kept on course with the map-reading, but well down the field of 121 teams - Very nice overnight camp at Longsleddale, bright sunny weather to unwind.  We knew that bad weather was expected on the Sunday, it did not disappoint, it just about stayed dry to pack up the tent, but then the next four and a bit hours were in pouring rain which was almost horizontal with the wind.  This seemed to pick us up,  lead by my trusty nephew (20 years my junior)  I chased around after him as hard as I could, early on he pulled of two navigational decisions which left us up the field, this was followed with a good opportunity to stretch out and run to the next control. By the end of day two, with  a run into the finish, although drowned, we finished 20th on the day and moved up to 25th in our class - the best we have ever done!  - So well chuffed!! 
 
I have to admit on the 2nd day I did not get much chance to look at the map, so all of the praise for the navigating was for my team mate.   I got back to Shropshire that evening to find it had not rained down here.   Anyone interested I have attached the link.  -
